Just looking at reruns of “A Different World”, and it made me realize how truly different the world was back in the 90’s. You talk about the ultimate explosion of ridiculously tacky clothes ever known to mankind, the 90’s takes the cake. In what other decade could you ever get away with wearing overalls that literally contain every single color in the rainbow, and also have polka dots to boot? Rock on, 90’s fashion!
I remember back when I was in high school (yes…in the 90’s) and I wanted this Cross Colours (remember them?) outfit SO BAD…it had a paisley pattern, a plaid pattern, and some kind of crazy velvet patches all rolled up into a button-up shirt and shorts combo…but you couldn’t tell me it wasn’t fresh. So fresh, in fact, that the outfit cost me $60.00–in the NINETIES!!! I ended up selling it to a dude for about 30 bucks…he thought he had bought his ticket to the ultimate in coolness.
Now, neither one of us would want to be caught dead, alive, or anywhere in between in that crazy get-up.
